Ann Torres, PMHNP-BC
Ann Torres is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with 18 years of experience in nursing and healthcare. For 14 of these years, she served in various nursing roles and saw the importance of mental health and how this impacts one’s overall health outcome. Because of this, she made the move to work in the psychiatric field as a nurse in both inpatient and outpatient settings and discovered a newfound passion for advocating and working with those with mental and behavioral health conditions.
As a PMHNP, she provides services to patients across the lifespan (children, adolescents, and adults) regarding the management of a wide range of mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), personality disorders and addiction disorders.
Ann brings empathy, an easygoing communication style, and a sweet sense of humor, making it easy for her to connect with patients and their family members.
She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB) in Belton, Texas. She then earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU).
Ann’s approach to patient care is grounded in holistic care, which involves listening to the patient’s concerns and working together to create the best treatment plan to meet the patient’s personal goals and needs. She firmly believes in the value of patient education regarding diagnoses, medications, lifestyle management, behavior change, and coping strategies.
She is a native Texan who values time with family, being outdoors, and growing plants, and is passionate about the work she does here in San Antonio.
